Join The Lancaster Symphony Chorus

We are excited to announce chorus auditions for the Lancaster Symphony’s October 2024 performances of Mozart’s Requiem, one of the most beloved pieces in the choral repertoire! Chorusmaster William Wright will prepare the chorus for performances that will be conducted by LSO music director, Maestro Michael Butterman. Regular rehearsals will be on Sunday evenings from 6:45 to 9:00 pm beginning in late August (schedule is posted below).

Audition Information

The schedule of audition times is shown here. If you are interested in auditioning, please email Chorusmaster William Wright at wwright@fandm.edu and indicate at least two audition nights that will fit your schedule.

Audition Date Options:

  • Monday, July 29: 6:30 - 9:30 pm

  • Thursday, August 1: 6:30 - 9:30 pm

  • Tuesay, August 6: 6:30 - 9:30 pm

  • Wednesday, August 7: 6:30 - 9:30 pm

  • Thursday, August 8: 6:30 - 9:30 pm

Auditions will take place at the Lancaster Symphony office, located at 48 N Christian St, Suite #200, Lancaster, PA 17602

Auditions will include the following:

  • Vocal exercises to assess vocal range and tone quality.

  • An ear test (singing a pattern of notes as much in tune as possible after hearing it once on the piano)—Speaking the names of printed notes in the appropriate clef for your voice part.

  • Performing two short snippets of music (unaccompanied), shared with you in this document.

  • Sight-singing a tonal melody, with help from the piano when needed.

  • Sight-reading a rhythmic pattern, singing “ba” on a single pitch.

  • You will not be asked to perform prepared solo songs.

It will not be necessary to do all of these things perfectly. Our goal is to get to know each person’s individual skill level as fully as possible.

  • Sunday, Sept. 29: 6:45 - 9:00 pm
